Elden Ring Nightreign Testers Experience Morgott Jump-Scare Invasions with Fell Omen’s Return

The Fell Omen bosses in Elden Ring have become legendary in their own right, and now, with the Elden Ring Nightreign expansion, FromSoftware has brought them back to terrorize the Lands Between.

Morgott, one of the game’s most notorious bosses, made his return in Nightreign. Known for his surprise attacks throughout the main campaign, Morgott’s phantom versions now invade players during Nightreign, bringing a jump-scare mechanic with him. This Fell Omen, an upgraded version of Morgott, can invade unsuspecting players, continuing his tradition of being an unpredictable menace.

While Morgott isn’t the only boss to invade players in Nightreign, his role as an invader feels particularly fitting. Not only does his surprise mechanic line up with his earlier appearances in Elden Ring, but players also get to experience additional voice lines and some new abilities from Morgott, ensuring he’s a true challenge. With the ability to bring two allies to battle, it only makes sense that Morgott gets some fresh moves to keep players on their toes.

In addition to invasions, Morgott can also serve as a powerful end-of-night boss, one of the final confrontations you can face as the night draws to a close during the Nightreign test.

Many early testers, including the player behind Let Me Solo Her, encountered the Fell Omen during the weekend’s testing sessions. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many players appreciating Morgott’s unexpected invasions. One tester shared on the Elden Ring Nightreign subreddit that Morgott’s invasion mechanic was one of their favorite new features, with players posting stories of their encounters in various locations such as elevators, towers, and other surprising spots. It’s clear that Morgott is capable of appearing just about anywhere, often resulting in chaotic and entertaining scenarios.

The unpredictability of these invasions has sparked excitement for the potential of other enemies to randomly appear and challenge players. For example, many fans have suggested that enemies like The Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 could be a great addition. Personally, I’d love to see the Hunters from Bloodborne make an appearance, though that might be a bit of a long shot.

Some testers have speculated that there may be additional layers to these invasions. For instance, a detailed account from GamesRadar mentioned that after one invasion, a co-op player was killed by the Fell Omen and left with a curse mark. The addition of such mechanics could make these invasions even more thrilling and impactful as the game progresses.

While the first Nightreign network test experienced some server issues, many players still managed to jump into the action. With the full release of Nightreign scheduled for May 30, there’s a lot to look forward to, especially as more players get to explore this new chapter in the Elden Ring universe.
