Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to release for the Nintendo Switch in late 2025, as confirmed by the game’s publisher, The Pokemon Company, and developer Game Freak.

This new installment in the Pokemon series takes place in Lumiose City, the largest metropolis in the Kalos region. At the heart of the city stands the towering Prism Tower, surrounded by scenic views. The city is currently undergoing a high-tech urban redevelopment project aimed at creating a place where both people and Pokemon can live in harmony.
Upon your arrival in Lumiose City, you’ll encounter three iconic Pokemon: Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. One of these will become your first partner as you embark on a journey to explore the city and meet its diverse inhabitants.
In Lumiose, you’ll forge a new friendship with either Urbane or Tawny, and you’ll be staying at a hotel managed by AZ, accompanied by his partner, Floette. The city’s redevelopment is overseen by Quizartico Inc., led by the ambitious CEO, Jet, and her loyal secretary, Vinny. The interactions with these unique characters will add depth to your adventure.
To promote coexistence between humans and Pokemon, Lumiose has designated Wild Zones, scattered throughout the city. These zones serve as natural habitats for wild Pokemon. To catch a wild Pokemon, aim your Poke Ball carefully, and if necessary, use your partner’s moves to weaken the target and increase your chances of a successful catch.
Battling and Mega Evolution
The game introduces a fresh take on Pokemon battles, where moves may have varying ranges or effects. The key to success lies in timing and positioning, so carefully plan each move and make tactical use of your Pokemon’s abilities. You can also swap out Pokemon during combat to strategize and find the right moment to strike.
Additionally, certain Pokemon have the ability to undergo Mega Evolution. By syncing your trainer’s keystone with a Mega Stone, your Pokemon can reach an entirely new level of power, dramatically changing the course of battle in your favor.
